Options RCIL has a full-time position open for an Independent Living Specialist in the East Grand Forks, MN Office!

Specific Duties include:

  • · Managing a caseload to assist individuals in establishing Independent Living goals and Plans
  • · Provide ongoing support as consumers move towards stated goals
  • · Advocate for the rights, resources and services
  • · Assess individual and community needs
  • · Provide information and referral on disability-related resources
  • · Provide individualized and group training in independent living skills
  • · Co-facilitate workshops as needed
  • · Coordinate peer support for independent living through consumer groups and/or peer mentoring
  • · Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • · Develop specialized knowledge as assigned in areas that include accessible/affordable housing, transportation, adaptive technology, home modifications, disability benefits, economic assistance programs, etc.
  • · Maintain accurate and timely consumer records, including case notes and documentation
  • · Other duties as assigned

Must possess critical thinking skills, effective communication skills and the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with a variety of people.

This position requires a minimum of two years of education in the human services field or at least two years of experience with working with individuals with disabilities.

Must be able to travel to the following counties for home visits/outreach- Walsh, Pembina, Cavalier, Traill, and Steele.
