Description

Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a Deputy Sheriff for the Cities of Larimore and Northwood. This is a co-op position responsible for providing law enforcement services to both cities.

As a certified law enforcement officer, preserve the peace, prevent and suppress all affrays, breaches of peace, riots, and insurrections, patrol the county to control traffic, prevent crime or disturbance of the peace, perform security duties for Court, provide transportation of prisoners, intoxicated persons, and mentally disturbed persons. Serve arrest warrants, notices and civil processes, and court papers. Provide services as requested by District Court Judges. Respond to a variety of complaints or calls requiring law enforcement assistance. Takes instructions/directives from Shift Supervisor.

Must have a North Dakota Peace Officer License or be licensable or currently enrolled in a Post Board approved academy.

STARTING RATE: $61.200 (DOE)

STATUS AND HOURS: Full-time (based on a 40 hours per week), benefit eligible. This position is scheduled for 10 hours per day and may be assigned to various shifts. In this role with Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, there might be a variation of hours and days to support the agency and County’s needs.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS/ DISQUALIFIERS Special Requirements: Must be 19 years of age, high school graduate or G.E.D. Must maintain a North Dakota Peace Officer License or be licensable or currently enrolled in a Post Board approved academy. A current driver’s license and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship. Out-of-State Candidates: Must be licensed or licensable Peace Officer in their current state or has graduated from a qualified law enforcement training academy or currently enrolled in a Post Board approved academy and would be eligible for North Dakota Peace Officer License. The following factors will be disqualifying: Incomplete application packet - cover letter, resume, and application must be completed and received by close date. A false statement or any omission of information, on the employment application, consent form, or verbally is disqualifying and grounds for termination of employment. A felony conviction. Applicants on criminal probation at time of intended hire. Any unlawful use of any drug while employed as a peace officer. Any involvement in the sales of illegal drugs. Lack of a valid driver’s license at time of intended hire. The following factors may be disqualifying: Prior drug usage will be evaluated for what was used, the extent of the use, and how recent the usage has been (including marijuana) A misdemeanor conviction.
