The role of the Maintenance Planner is to be the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Production and other supported departments. In this capacity, he/she ensures that all internal customers of maintenance receive timely, effective, efficient and quality service. He/she also takes a continuing interest in customer (internal) needs. With keen awareness of the customer’s situation (schedule, problems, etc…), the Planner is able to help Production balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance.

Principle accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Responsible for long range, short range and outage planning. Long range planning involves the regular analysis of backlog relative to available resources. These two basic variables must be kept in balance if a proactive maintenance environment is to be established and sustained. Outage planning includes intercampaign planning, MDS and Sugar Warehouse scheduled outages and outages requiring factory interruptions.

The Planner must spend a minimum of 20% of their time out on the floor researching and developing job packages.

Development of Task Lists for recurring jobs and activities. The Job Plan files will be for campaign and inter-campaign jobs or activities.

Keeps the Maintenance Superintendent apprised of abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice outside the Planners knowledge or authority.

Works with the Maintenance Engineer on recommendations for system improvements.

Provide planning and scheduling support to PM and PDM activities.

*

Support and provide backup for the other planners. This includes ensuring all trade activities are considered when planning a job.

*

Maintains essential records and files from which he/she prepares and distributes accurate and meaningful management reports.

Participation in budgetary preparation, tracking and analysis.

Performs other maintenance related tasks and special assignments as requested by the Maintenance Engineer or Superintendent(s)

Job Requirements:

High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.

*

Must have 5 years experience as a House 1st Mechanic, Millwright, Certified Welder, Machinist, Electrician 1st Class, ECT or equivalent are required.

Must have a strong mechanical background and knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation work.

Individuals are required to take a Mechanical Aptitude Test and Basic Skills Test to verify basic skills and knowledge.

Individuals are required to submit to and successfully pass a Safety Screen that evaluates their ability to safely execute duties and tasks of this position.

Able to read, write and communicate effectively.

Compensation Range:

$39.57 - $39.57 /hr
