Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency.
Qualifications: Job related experience at the elementary or middle school level with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and be 18 years of age or older.
Job Goal: The job of Facility Manager is done for the purpose/s of supervising maintenance and custodial services and activities; overseeing assigned personnel; providing information to others; and scheduling work assignments within established timeframes and standards.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Communicates with administrators, personnel, and outside organizations for the purpose of coordinating activities, resolving issues and conflicts, and exchanging information.
2. Assists in conducting training for staff and students (e.g. fire drills, safety procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary services for site safety.
3. Implements assigned activities and/or projects (e.g. leads daily custodial staff meetings, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
4. Inspects projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently, specifications are within established guideline, and approving inspection reports and payment requests.
5. Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
6. Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
7. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
8. Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district's goals and objectives.
9. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
10. Supervises department functions including hiring/termination recommendations, planning / scheduling / coordinating activities, training, advising, consulting, etc. for the purpose of ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
11. Supervises work and workplace safety standards for the purpose of ensuring compliance regulatory requirements and district preventive maintenance processes.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g. HVAC, security systems, pool systems, in building, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
13. Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.
14. Supports the relationship between the Grand Forks Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Terms of Employment: twelve (12) months
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Custodial Supervisor.
